Haley's Corn Dogs


A sweet and savory dish, this recipe makes for a lovely lunch without all the mess. I make this for the kids very often, it's a popular pick between them! I think you'll like it too, so if you're interested, read on!


Cook Time - Preparation: 20 mins, Cook: 20 mins - Total: 40 minutes

What you will need:

Medium Bowl

Deep Saucepan

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup yellow cornmeal

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour

  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

  • 1/4 cup white sugar

  • 4 tsp baking powder

  • 1 egg

  • 1 cup milk

  • 1 quart vegetable oil for frying

  • 2 (16 ounce) packages beef hotdogs

  • 16 wooden skewers

Instructions:

  1. In a medium bowl, combine cornmeal, flour, salt, pepper, sugar and baking powder. Stir in eggs and milk.

  2. Preheat oil in a deep saucepan over medium heat. Insert wooden skewers into frankfurters. Roll hot dogs in the batter until well coated.

  3. Fry 2 corn dogs (3 if you can fit it) at a time until lightly browned, about 3 minutes. Move to a paper towel to dry.
