Homemade Mozzarella Cheese Sticks
You know that wonderful rush of satisfaction when you bite into a mozzarella stick, and the cheese strand stretches to the piece still in your hand, creating a bridge from A to B? So do I! And in this recipe, we're going to bring that feeling home, right to your kitchen. Read on, you've got a simple and easy ticket to happiness just ahead.
What you will need:
2 eggs (beaten)
1/4 cup water
1 1/2 cups italian bread crumbs
1/2 teaspoon garlic salt
2/3 cup all-purpose flour
1/3 cup cornstarch
4-6 cups oil for frying
1 pack mozzarella cheese sticks (1lb/16 sticks)
In a small bowl, mix your eggs and water.
Mix the garlic salt and italian bread crumbs in a medium bowl. In another bowl, blend the all purpose flour and cornstarch.
In a large saucepan, heat the oil to 375 degrees F.
Coat each mozzarella stick in the flour mixture and then the egg mixture, in the bread crumbs and finally into the oil. Fry until golden (about 30 seconds.) Move to paper towel lined plate to cool.
