S'mores Old Fashion Fried Doughnuts
By now everyone knows what a huge fan of the Summer and of course the food that comes with it and we all know by now that Izzy will not leave S'mores alone. She will find every single way to incorporate a S'more into a meal.
This time, I will have to commend her for this one, we all gobbled these bad boys up like there was no tomorrow.
She originally found a photo with no Recipe by searching google for S'mores Donuts. However, Mrs investigator jumped on and got the title and did a search for recipes.
I found several starting with the one on Food Network for the S'mores Donuts, but I wanted to fry my donuts and I wanted to dip them if at all possible, so the challenge was on. I then came across another S'mores Donut recipe that reminded me of when I owned the bakery as it was stuffed with marshmallow instead.
Giving it one more go and still tricking out, I decided to give it a try all by myself.
This is what you will need:
Deep Pan or Skillet for Frying like this and a Chef's Torch (can use broil, but it has to be quick since the donuts are already cooked):
2 packages original style refrigerated biscuits
Crisco for frying
Your favorite chocolate bar (Hershey is what we had laying around) thank izzy for that one LOL
1 Jumbo Marshmallow per donut
Crushed Graham Crackers
Whipping Cream or Milk
Add enough Crisco to your large frying pan so that oil is about 1/2 to 3/4 inch deep.
While oil is heating, use a round 1-inch cookie cutter to cut the centers out each biscuit. Set the holes aside for later.
Use tongs to place donuts into the hot oil, cook for 1-2 minutes until golden brown. Transfer to a cooling rack and repeat until all donuts are cooked.
While donuts are cooling, place chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl and microwave on half power for 1 minute, add in a drop of whipping cream or milk then 20 seconds more at a time, stirring after each rotation until smooth.
Dip donuts in the melted chocolate to cover one half of the donut then sprinkle with with crushed graham crackers and place a half of a jumbo Marshmallow on top.
Place donuts on a baking sheet. Broil in the oven for 1-3 minutes until marshmallows are golden brown. (Watch very closely so they don't burn!!!) or do it My way and torch that bad boy
Let cool for 3-5 minutes then serve
